Cable Recommendations
You will require adequate cable for your Job which you can purchase from our website (see Cable):
Alarm Systems (Excluding 230V Power Connection)
Cable runs up to 40 Meters: 4 Core .2
Cable runs of 40 to 100 Meters: 4 Core .5
Cable runs over 100 Meters: Cat 6e Cable
230V Power Connection Options:
- Use a Plug Pack Version of the equipment and connect it to an existing power point
- Connect an Extension Lead with the female end cut off to the Mains Power termination point in the Alarm Panel and plug into an existing Power Point such as the Fridge Power Point
- Hardwire into the Main Electrical Supply (This MUST be done by a registered Electrician)
Point To Point Beams
Cable runs of up to 100 Meters: 4 Core .5
Cable runs over 100 Meters: Cat 6e Cable
Intercom Systems
Cable runs up to 150 Meters: Cat 6e Cable
Fittings Recommendations
You will require adequate fittings for your Job which you can purchase from your local Hardware Store
Screws – we recommend Square Drive Screws
If connecting to an Analogue Phone for Monitoring: 1 x Telephone Line filter
Also you may require the following depending on the job:
- White Electrical Tape
- Cable Connectors
- 1 x Container of White Filler
- 20mm Conduit to run outdoor cables in, (it comes in 4 Meter Lengths)
- Assorted Bends and Joiners for the Conduit
- 20mm Capping to run indoor cables in, (it comes in 4 Meter Lengths)
- 1 x Container of assorted Cable Ties
Tools and Equipment
You can purchase the following from your local Hardware store
- 1 x Basic Tool set including a set of screwdrivers & a side cutter
- 1 x Headlight OR Torch OR Light
- 1 x Battery OR Mains Powered Drill
- 1 x Combination Wood and Concrete Drill Bit
- 1 x Set of small Drill Bits
- 1 x Fold Out 5 or 6 Step Ladder to allow you access to the Manhole
Other Equipment that Handymen doing one off type installations shouldn’t require but can be useful depending on what you are doing and what Professional Installers should carry:

Other Safety Equipment that Professional Installers should carry but Handymen doing one off type installations shouldn’t require but can be useful depending on the type of installation you are doing:
- Hard Hat
- High Visibility Vest
- Pair of Boots
- Disposal Face Masks
Working in Roof Spaces or Under Houses
You should always make sure that someone is on site and have your Cell Phone with you in case you get into difficulty
